Fabric Art

What does quilting and computers have in common? Well, at first glance, not much. But think again...

I've been taking a quilting class with my mom and it's given me the opportunity to create some applique designs for several quilt blocks for class. There was a need for a couple Christmas applique designs, so I went to work on designing a solution. These are two that I came up with:

a cardinal -
and a pointsetta  -
I rather liked designing these simple fabric creations. Can't wait to see the completed projects in their fabric forms.

Newborn - Aiden

This sweet guy was born at the end of August and is such a joy for his parents. I took Aaron and Mary's maternity photos and it was so nice to be able to capture Baby Aiden as well! Congrats you two! I am so happy for your sweet little family and can't wait to see how he further blesses your lives.

Aiden was not a fan of being naked. Lol! His daddy had to calm him down in between poses.

It was really important for them to get some daddy-son pictures. I just love the way these turned out!

Newborn - AnnaMarie

Ever since I was blessed with my own little one, the art of photographing babies has been a joy and a challenge that I want to do more of. We've had lots of babies being born in the area (neighbors, friends, church folks, friends of friends, etc) and I'm just itch'n to set up a photo-date with all of them. I didn't get too many great photos of my little C within the first couple weeks of her life, and after that perfect time period had passed, I was left with a squirmy, open-eyed little munchkin which made it impossible to get any fun poses out of her.

I've been able in the past couple weeks to get some good newborn photos of some cutie kids! This is one of them - AnnaMarie. Her mama brought her over for a shopping-date and we attempted some pics before we left. A didn't like to be naked... so mama put her in a cute pink and brown outfit. She wasn't interested in sleeping either, so all the pics were bright-eyed. She is a cutie though!

Here's one of them from that day. Mama was trying to tell A how important it was to relax and enjoy the shoot. :)

Yummy!

Gotta love a good meal, esp one made by Hubs!

He is such a great cook.

And of course everything tastes even better when I don't have to hang out in the kitchen myself. :)

Thanks Love!

Aaron + Mary - Maternity Photos

I can't believe how great the weather turned out to be for us for this shoot. We were all really worried that the heat was gonna be too much for all of us, especially for the darling preggo. ;) I know how it is when you're pregnant and all the hormones and body heat... it's a sweltering mess most of the time. I don't wish summer pregnancy on anyone. Honestly though, it might be better to be preggo during the summer and have a winter baby, as the body heat doesn't calm down after the little one is born. It actually gets worse (in my humble opinion) since then you have two of you sharing the warmth creating pools of sweat! TMI? Maybe. :) Just stating the truth.

Anywho, the evening turned out to be gorgeous... still a little warm... but not unbearable. And there was a light breeze to keep the air fresh.

The squirrels were out and the flowers were gorgeous. I absolutely love this park! I wish I still lived closer to it... instead of my hour long trek to get there now. :(
I always try to arrive early to scout out locations, check the fields (see if they've mowed or left it au-natural!), watch the other visitors and try to preplan our route to keep said visitors out of the background. :)

Well, as I was walking and enjoying the view... did I mention that I love this park?!... and glanced something out of the corner of my eye. It brought my feet to a stop and my heart to a pace that would make a racehorse dizzy.
Luckily it was just a little gardener snake (right??), but it still scared me none-the-less. Oh well, at least it was a good reminder that even though we were in a park, it was still inhabited by wild creatures and we had to keep a lookout when we went traipsing through the knee-high grass! Haha!

Aaron and Mary arrived for their shoot and we got down to business! We had some fun and they were good sports... Aaron especially as I know many men don't like getting pictures taken but put up with it because they love their wives/girlfriends/moms/sisters/etc and it's what we want. (ahem - insert my Hubs here - Thanks Hun for putting up with all my crazy photo requests too!) :)

We got a lot of great pics! Check some of them out:

And if that's not enough, feel free to check them all out here.

Aaron + Mary Maternity Shoot - Sneak Peek

It's been hot around the Denver area lately. Monday was absolutely miserable (it was still 90 degrees at 9 o'clock at night) and so I was a little worried about the heat factor for our photo shoot on Tuesday evening... mostly for Mary, as I know that the heat is not your friend when you are pregnant... but for me as well since I've never faired well when it's too warm.

But the weather worked out well for us and Mary was a trooper!

Aaron and Mary are good friends of mine. I knew them before they started dating, before they got married, and now they are pregnant with their first child. I am so excited for them and the little boy that God has blessed them with! I can't wait to meet the little guy!

Thanks guys for letting me capture some amazing photos of the three of you! :)

More to come...
